House of Champions
Kristin Morris
I don't remember the little details, such as the temperature, or who scored when, but I do remember the feeling I got walking up to the Dallas Cowboys' stadium. It was unreal. I had seen the Cowboys play many times - every year against the New York Giants since i was about 6 or 7 years old. But to have the opportunity to watch them play in their home stadium was incredible. The game itself is not what I remember most, but just being there at Texas Stadium, dubbed "The House of Champions", is what I remember.
My dad has been a Cowboys fan since he was in the 5th grade. He passed that on to me so I've been a fan since I was a baby. Everything I know about football I learned from my dad. And we both love the Cowboys! Growing up in New Jersey, we have both received a lot of flack from family and friends for being Cowboys fans because pretty much everyone around us is a Giants fan. We do not like the Giants! But we stick together and support our team. My mom and my brother are not that big of fans, but enjoy watching any sports game. So needless to say, I was very excited when my dad announced to the family that we were going to Texas for Thanksgiving: we were going to see the Cowboys play the Minnesota Vikings at Texas Stadium.
Being at Texas Stadium, surrounded by fellow Cowboys fans, was a great feeling. We were so used to being harassed by Giants fans at the Meadowlands so it was nice to not have to put up with that for once. I loved seeing "my boys" as i call them, in their home environment. Instead of arguing with Giants fans, I was high-fiving and raving about the Cowboys with fellow fans. My dad and I were in heaven. Even though the Cowboys lost to Minnesota, that didn't matter to us. Just being there was more than enough.
Even though everyone else started leaving during the 4th quarter because the Cowboys were losing, we stayed. We were enjoying being in the stadium so much we didn't care. When we finally left the stadium, we gathered up as many of the cups they gave out as we could. They said "House of Champions" on them and the years the Cowboys won the Super Bowl. I think we brought home about 15! Still to this day, we have about 3 or 4 of those cups left. Everytime I use one, it brings back that feeling I had being at Texas Stadium.
The trip was so good that we are finally going back to Texas Stadium again! We are going for Thanksgiving this year. They are in the process of building a new stadium so we need to go before they knock this one down. The new one will be ready in 2009 and my dad has already said we will go again that year. I am very much looking forward to reliving that experience again!

A really nice story - I always wonder about folks who leave before a game - no matter what the sport - is officially over. My brother-in-law wanted to leave Game 4 of the 1993 World Series (Phillies v. Blue Jays) because he was too cold - yikes.
A couple of things - first, be as specific as possible when you write. What year was your dad in fifth grade?
Careful with tired phrases like "needless to say." This sounds a little arrogant to the reader, as if you're so convinced that what you're about to say is terrific stuff.
Also: make sure you use a capital I throughout the piece - I saw one or two lower case I's.
Can you also respace the piece so that the lines are even and there is one space between graphs? Thanks!
Two points.
